THANK YOU UNCLE ROB

Over the period 2nd to 13th July Megan's Uncle Rob cycled a staggering 1,000 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats to satisfy a personal ambition.

This was not an organised event, but something Rob undertook with a friend, without any assistance.  They carried all their own equipment and clothing around with them, making scheduled stops at hostels along the way.

Rob decided to make his ambition into a sponsored event in aid of A Wish for Megan and his efforts have raised a breath taking £466!

THANK YOU SO MUCH Rob for dedicating your event to Megan & to all your sponsors.

A VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENING!

Last night (30th June) saw a very special evening on the Wish for Megan calander with a little help from a very special friend, Internationl Best selling author Adele Parks.

A spread of bucks fizz, chocolate covered strawberry hearts, olives and fruit kebabs lay welcoming guests before they had even entered the main hall.

Once inside a host of stalls lay in wait to tempt guests to indulge, including Yummy Mummy cupcakes, Ickle Tweats confectionary and jewellery handmade by the Wish for Megan team, including Megan herself.

Megan & her Mummy welcomed everyone and thanked all their guests for attending the evening and supporting their fight to raise funds for the equipment that isn't available to megan without private funding.  Megan helped Mummy along by greating all her guests and telling everyone she wanted to walk which had many people in tears, including Megan's mummy who became unable to speak!!  Thankfully it was Adele's turn to take the stage and was ever the professional.

Adele spoke about her latest novel About Last Night and treated us to a reading to get us all in the mood to settle down with the book, which everyone received a signed copy of.  Adele also answered the questions that she was asked the most, "how do you churn your books out" and "do you write about your friends" as well as her opinions on the kindle (you'll have to come along to our next event for the answers).

The evening was a great success and enjoyed by everyone we have spoken to and the best bit is it raised a further £500 towards Megan's equipment which is better than we had realistically predicted.  So, Thank you to everyone that either attended or couldn't be with us but donated the cost of the ticket.

Adele has very kindly offered to hold a similar event with us next year, so for those of you that had such a fantastic time you'd like to do it all again, now you can.  And for those of you that couldn't make it this time round you will have another opportunity to be a part of it next year.  Our ambition is to make it a regualar, annual event so watch this space . . .

Special thanks to Sarah Forsythe at The Russell School for helping to arrange the venue and staying late to help us tidy and lock up and for helpping all day with the food (Sarah is also Megan's aunty).

Thank you to Greg & Mandy Schumake of William Morris Labour Club who couldn't attend the event, but kindly donated the Bucks Fizz and made a very generous contribution once again.

Lisa Dickson of Yummy Mummy Cupcakes very kindly made the gorgeous cupcakes that we had the pleasure of selling and donated them all to our cause.  What a wonderful lady!

To everyone that volunteered by either helping us set up or running a stall to include Nigel & Sharon Forsythe (Megan's grandparents), Nicci TheodoulouHannah Corlett, Christine & Nicola McLaughlin (Megan's Nanny & Aunty), and Megan's Daddy Robert McLaughlin.

Samantha Arora, the creator of Ickle Tweats who took the time to create a beautiful stall full of very gorgeous confectionary on her son's 4th Birthday!  A very talented lady who we will always welcome to any of our events, Thank you.

Thank you to Megan for just being herself, a true little star and for really being a part of the event (even if it did make her Mum cry in fromt of everyone). And to Megan and her little sister Imogen for being well behaved, gorgeous little girls who make their parents Very proud!

A massive thank you to the wonderful ladies at Headline Publishers for very kindly printing up the posters and flyers to advertise our event so professionally, and for donating a hamper of books for the raffle.

And last, but by no means least, our new Best Friend.  The Beautiful Adele Parks who has constantly been in touch from the very beginning of our planning and made some brilliant suggestions for making the event as successful as it was.  You are our hero!!

And of course, thank you if you attended the evening or made a contribution, your generosity is what keeps us going when it gets hard.
